Mrs. Santilli's Full Day 3's

It's February and love is in the air with heart shapes everywhere!  So far it's been a very mild winter.  I wonder what the groundhog will predict for the last 6 weeks of winter.  Our class is wishing for some snow, because it brings many new learning experiences.
Our next unit of study will be "Valentine's Day".  This theme will bring many activities for the students to learn all about this special day.  We will also have a Valentine's Day party on Tuesday, February 14.  You will find more details for the party on the sign up sheet outside our classroom.
Our second unit of study will be "Our Country".  This theme will give the students knowledge of how our country came to be, as well as, the important people who helped build it.
We will continue working through the numbers moving up to 7 for recognition and sets, but most of us can count all the way to 20.  Our language development lessons will introduce the Alpha Friends for the letters O, P, and Q.
We hope you have a safe and happy February.
Infants' Nursery
February already!?  Time flies….  We said our best wishes and farewells to Sadie who "graduated" on to the Crawlers Nursery; although we run up the hall and visit with her and Cayenne most everyday.  Meanwhile the rest of our little class is really not so little anymore and is highly mobile, sprouting teeth, trying new food and in general growing like weeds…well perhaps flowers each with their own special gifts and graces.
As always thanks to our parents for the privilege of watching over these wee ones!
        Happy "Heart Day"!
Mrs. Crow and Ms. Marsha
Crawlers' Nursery
The Crawlers are growing so fast and changing each day.  We will spend our time this month working on our fine and gross motor skills, and on our language skills.  We are also going to work on having "nice touches" and sharing with our friends.
We would like to welcome Sadie, who joined our class in the middle of January.
We have two birthdays this month - Happy Birthday to Nolan and Cayenne who both will turn one year old.
At the end of this month your child will receive an order form for our Gardner's Candy fundraiser.

Have a wonderful Valentines Day!

Mrs. Poli and Ms. Cassy's Full Day 2's
It's the month of red hearts, valentines and special cards made for special people!  Our class is excited about the fun activities this month.
Our units for February are Valentine's Day, Shapes, and Colors.  We will also observe Groundhog Day.  In addition to traditional activities, such as making crafts and valentines, our class will have a Valentine's Day party.  Our party will be Monday, February 13, at lunch time.  There will be a sign up sheet outside our door.  Each family is asked to bring a bag of candy or non-candy item for valentine treat bags.  We have 17 children in our class.  They may also bring Valentine's Day cards to share with their friends.
We would like to thank all of our parents for their support.
Thank you and God bless!
   Half Day 3's Program
January has come and gone.  Where is all the snow?  I am not sure if we are going to get any significant amounts or not.  I am sure your child wishes we would.  If we do get snow please refer to the letter you were given a few weeks ago, the Parents Handbook or check for any delays or closings on our website at www.humptydumptyslearningcenter.com.
We are open on Monday, February 20.
This month we continue with our ABeka curriculum as we focus on number and letter recognition skills.  Crafts this month will focus on winter and Valentine's Day.  We also continue to attend Chapel and Music on Mondays and Wednesdays.
We are having our Valentine Party on Monday, February 13.  Again, due to our class size no parents are able to attend.  I will have a sign up sheet located on the table in the hall if you would like to send in a snack for the party.  Each child is asked to bring in a Valentine card for each student.  We are making boxes for them beginning this week (remember empty tissue box).  There are 13 students in our class.  Please just have your child (if they can) sign their name to the card.  It is not necessary to write their classmate's name on it.  We will make sure each child receives a card from your child.
Please note that half day students may not enter the building before 8:50.  This has been the policy since the beginning of the school year and is stated in the Parents Handbook.  If you have any questions regarding this or any other matter please see one of us.

4 Year Old Half Day Program
Where did January go?  I cannot believe that February is here already!  We have not seen any big snow amounts yet, but if there is please refer to the notice we gave out a few weeks ago, check your Parent's Handbook, or check out any closings or delays on our website at www.humptydumptylearningcenter.com.
This month our crafts will focus on Valentine's Day and we will continue with our ABeka courses in Bible, math and language development.  We are also focusing on recognition of numbers and letters and on writing skills by printing their own first names and will hopefully begin their last names shortly.
We will be having a Valentine's Day party on Tuesday, February 14.  The children gave me ideas on what they would like to bring.  So instead of having a sign up sheet I will let you know what your child suggested.  We will also be exchanging Valentines.  You may just want to make the Valentine cards at home since store bought ones usually contain 25 - 30 cards and we have only 4 students in our class.  Just have your child sign the card.  It is not necessary to address it to any particular student.
Some parents have asked me about the "change" in the allowed arrival time for our classroom.  Your Parents Handbook, that was given to you the beginning of the year,  states that half day students may not enter the building prior to 8:50.  So there has been no change.  Please see me or Mrs. Arnone if you have any questions regarding this or any other matter.

Four Year Old Full Day PreK
February is here and that groundhog will let us know if there is six more weeks of cold weather!  We all know that it is a distinct possibility!  The children will be experiencing the Valentine season, studying our country when it was a young country, and then welcoming March with a unit on the wind.
The sign up poster for the Valentine party will be posted outside your child's classroom door.  If you wish to participate, please feel free to sign up for an item.  A reminder that all children will bring a bag of candy for the treat bags, in addition to any other item you have signed up for.  Thank you for your support!  The children may also bring in their Valentines to distribute on this day.
All of the children at preschool have been making good use of their puzzles, blocks, lacing cards, and many new workjobs.  They also enjoy the coloring and craft projects.  It is good to know they can have fun while they learn, too.  Each day during class time, helpful learning games are used.  Everyone likes to participate in vigorous exercises and working with magnets, magnifying glasses, texture letters and design blocks, as well as the solar system, dinosaurs and seashells.
Bible time is the most important part of the school day.  It is the first subject that is taught each day and flows into memory verse time.

Happy February from the Toddler Room!
We are having fun in our room and learning too.  This month we will talk about love and Valentine's Day.  We will learn about Jesus' love for us and listen to the Bible.  We will continue to learn our ABCs and other circle time songs.
We will be having our Valentine's Day party on Tuesday, February 14, from 11:15 - 11:45 and snacks will be provided.  Please remember to send in a Valentine for each friend.  I will be sending a class list home.
Please remember to send in a photo of your child for his/her emergency card.
God bless and thank you for all you do!
